Altris was founded in 2017 with the aim of producing highly sustainable cathode materials for rechargeable sodium batteries to enable a renewable future. Our research focuses on the development of cathode materials that are composed of widely abundant materials. Altris’ first product is an iron-based electrode material for sodium batteries, called Fennac, which is produced in large quantities via a low energy process. The material has many similarities with lithium iron phosphate (LFP): approximately the same voltage and capacity, but with no thermal runway. Compared to LFP though, Fennac contains more abundant raw materials, is less costly to produce, and has the potential to have higher power and better performance in low and high temperatures. We believe that batteries should enable a renewable future without an increase in cost to the customer or the environment. To this end, Altris is collaborating with Swedish, European, and Asian partners to introduce the technology to the mass market.

To support you in achieving the highest quality of lithium-ion batteries, Anton Paar delivers solutions for characterizing active materials in battery materials research, checking the raw materials, verifying the quality of electrolytes and solvents before use, and much more.

Our instruments will help you understand how the particle size, porosity, density, viscosity, viscoelasticity, and adhesion of your materials affect the behavior and performance of your cells so you can adjust these parameters to create the best final product.

Anton Paar is your strong partner for battery materials research. Use our instruments to determine the liquid and bulk density, surface area, and particle size in order to optimize performance parameters. You can even use our instruments to follow electrochemical processes in-situ to maximize capacity and performance.

Measuring the pore size and particle size distribution enables you to optimize the properties of the working electrode. Anton Paar’s devices for measuring the true density provide insights into the appropriate mass/volume density in a battery package so you can optimize your cell for applications where either mass or volume is critical. For research into preventing separator failure, knowing the through-pore size means you can identify and reject unsuitable materials from the start.

If the thermal safety behavior of your product is an important part of your research, measure the flash point to get valuable information. For high-performance electrolytes, knowledge about viscosity can improve the electrolyte’s ionic conductivity. In the quest for novel materials used in anodes, cathodes and separators, microwave synthesis opens up unprecedented reaction conditions leading to new structures.

SNF, headquartered in Andrézieux, France, is the largest polyacrylamide (PAM, which is a water-soluble polymer) manufacturer in the world. Our entire company production volumes represent 48% of global PAM production, and we lead production on all continents.

The Group employs around 6,600 people worldwide at its various subsidiaries and implements a growth policy that respects both communities and the environment. The scarcity of natural resources, including water, minerals and hydrocarbons, is the driving force behind most of SNF’s businesses. Accordingly, the Group produces over 1,000 products that contribute towards preserving natural resources, encourage reuse and recycling, and improve the efficiency of industrial processes.

Our products are designed for a large number of industrial and commercial applications and include flocculants, which help separate suspended solids in water, viscosity modifiers, which modify liquid density, and friction reducers, which reduce friction in aqueous fluids in motion

We have the chance to be positioned in markets where sustainable development issues are of major importance. We provide tangible solutions that enable our customers to sustain growth while minimizing the environmental impact of their business.

In transportation for example the transition from ICE to EV is well initiated. Progresses in materials technologies make the vehicles always more performing but technical challenges persist to ensure higher autonomy, faster charge and a better safety. Polymer science can contribute in getting closer to these objectives and particularly SNF, through its 50 years expertise in polymer manufacturing, is developing environmental-friendly aqueous-based binders or still ionic conductive polymers for Gen 4 batteries.

Our worldwide footprint is a clear asset to ensure a local supply chain in the 3 main active production areas (UE, Asia and US), thus reducing CO2 emission and simplifying the distribution network.

ViscoTec produces dosing systems and components for semi or fully automatic production lines and assembly processes. From precise micro dispensing, in the microliter range, to speed-proportional bead dosing, from potting applications, two-component mixing applications or from high precise filling under highest hygienic requirements for the pharma industry to liquid preparation and barrel emptying of semi-solid pastes: ViscoTec products cover a wide range of applications.

All dosing and filling units of the company are based on the endless piston principle. The functionality is comparable to an endless piston that feeds the product from the suction side to the pressure side and builds up a pressure difference in doing so. The core element of each application is a volumetric dispensing pump. The interaction of an eccentrically moving rotor into a corresponding stator results into a similar flow and dosing characteristics of an endless moving piston.

ViscoTec products are mostly used with adhesives, paints, soldering pastes, sealants, in medical technology, cosmetics or in the food sector. The technology focus lies on dispensing, applying, filling and material treatment like degassing or barrel emptying of several different products. The company core competence is the processing of highly viscous, solid containing, abrasive or shear-sensitive liquids or pastes. All fluids showing a viscosity of up to 7.000.000 mPas can be conveyed and dosed almost pulsation-free and with extremely low shear force. ViscoTec offers technically advanced solutions, available as standard products or as part of a modular design. In addition, the company creates solutions for the most challenging, customer-specific applications and is the single point of contact to deliver all components for a complete system: From emptying to preparing and to dosing. This guarantees a successful interaction of all components.
